While I am totally scared I am about to jinx myself, this time tomorrow I should be finished my course!!!

I have one last story I'm working on tonight and my final test (court reporting) at 10.30am and then I am done.

It's been a fabulous year. I have loved, loved, loved my course and the opportunities it has opened up. I can't wait to get started in my journalism career...which starts next Monday actually!

I have 5 assessments between now and Tuesday and then I am done!!!!I dyed my hair on the weekend and instead of mid brown it went black :-|I couldn't be happier about the US election result if I tried :DI have 17 days until I move house and have not started packing at all, nothing like leaving things to the last minuteMy car passed it's WOF (after a repair bill of $286 for a bung headlight fixture). Poor little red car has been sitting unused all year.I am in  with iced coffees at the moment.I'm hungry and the roast chicken and lashings of veges I am cooking smell real good.

Goodbye Hamilton!

Hurrah!

We have a house in Tirau!

Moving weekend is set for Nov 22 - right after my first week full time at the SWN. I'm going to be a tired and grumpy bunny!

But the house is so sunny and warm! The kitties are going to be so happy about that!

It has a lovely deck as well for relaxing on and bbqing and stuff.

We will have a spare bedroom too, so feel free to come for a visit!

And the landlord is putting in a new oven cos the old one's a bit mank.

Hurrah!

OCTOBER 22ND = INTERNATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY; A DAY OF CELEBRATION OF LIFE AND FOREVER SCREAMING TEXT

I KIDD YOU NOT.

APPARENTLY IT'S AN ANNUAL EVENT, LOOKED FORWARD TO BY GEEKS EVERYWHERE.

I'M FINDING IT VERY HARD NOT TO HIT SHIFT AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH SENTENCE OR WHEN I TYPE "I"

THAT IS ALL.

Update of a sort

So much has been happening lately that journaling has completely fallen by the way side. Right now I should be writing but I'm not feeling too special - weird heart palpatations and nausea, probably from stressing/burning the candle at both ends - so I am taking a break.

I have about 3 weeks of class to go and then I am done. Such a scary and cool feeling. But of course, it's head down bum up between now and then.

We are also house hunting. We looked at two properties today and are putting in an application for one so cross fingers and toes for us??

Meantime I am going through a bit of a health hiccup. I will spend all day Thursday at Waikato Hospital and have to fast for 16 hours before hand and all day. Oh and drink laxatives. I have a morning of various blood tests that is scheduled to take 3 hours (!!!) and then an investigative procedure in the afternoon that I will be heavily sedated for (Heather it's the same procedure you had recently so I will know ...

And now for some info about the job...

Well it’s all signed, sealed and delivered; as of Monday November 10, I will be a journalist at the South Waikato News in Tokoroa. Yes, I have my first proper job as a reporter!!!!!!!!!!!! I am really thrilled about it, not just to have a job given the recession and restructuring/cost cutting by the major newspaper firms in NZ, but also to have the position I wanted so much. I actually really love Tokoroa!! For those who don’t know, I have been doing work experience there since June and had an absolute ball. I have learnt so much, covered some really great stories, been guided and encouraged by the lovely editor Fritha and had some very interesting experiences. From Picasso the prize winning Moggy adopted from the local SPCA shelter, my first fatal car accident, my first serious court report story on a gang shooting to writing about a huge calf rearing operation (5500 calves raised from Aug to Nov), three starving horses in Mangakino and local high school Pacific...

Pie?

You Are Apple Pie

http://www.blogthingsimages.com/whatkindofpieareyouquiz/apple-pie.jpg

You're the perfect combo of comforting and traditional.
You prefer things the way you've always known them.
You'll admit that you're old fashioned, and you don't see anything wrong with that.
Your tastes and preferences are classic. And classic never goes out of style.

Those who like you crave security.
People can rely on you to be true to yourself - and true to them.
You're loyal, trustworthy, and comfortable in your own skin.
And because of these qualities, you've definitely earned a lot of respect.

What Kind of Pie Are You?

I was walking home this afternoon when I was stopped and asked if I would consider being a hair model for some hair dressing students at the Waikato School of Hairdressing.

Apparently my hair is the perfect type, length and cut for the students to practise hair ups on.

And in return for an hour of my time this Thursday, I will get a free shampoo and treatment, blowdry and straighten afterwards :D

So although I don't actually have time, I am going to make time because a) I have really appreciated it when strangers have helped me out this year with my course and b) hullo?? Free pampering!!!

It's just a shame my friend Karla who was with me didn't have the requiste hair they were after, would have been so much fun to do it with a pal.

In other news, I will be so pissy if the world ends tomorrow (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/the-large-hadron-collider-end-of-the-world-or-gods-own-particle-921540.html) and I have spent my last few days on earth stressing out about assessments. But tha...

What does your musical taste say about you?

Musical tastes and personality type are closely related, according to a study of more than 36,000 people from around the world.

The research, which was carried out by Professor Adrian North of Heriot-Watt University, is said to be the largest such study ever undertaken.

Professor North described the research as "significant" and "surprising".

"We have always suspected a link between music taste and personality. This is the first time that we've been able to look at it in real detail. No-one has ever done this on this scale before."

Prof North said the research could have many uses in marketing, adding: "If you know a person's music preference you can tell what kind of person they are, who to sell to.

"There are obvious implications for the music industry who are are worried about declining CD sales.

"One of the most surprising things is the similarities between fans of classical music and heavy metal. They're both creative and at ease but not outgoing.

"pillow angels????"

I stumbled upon the story of Ashley X randomly this evening and have been surfing all round the net for more information.

I am so sickened by this.

What do you think?

Ashley the pillow angel: love or madness?

Even the doctors who sanctioned it agree. Putting a severely disabled nine-year-old girl through radical surgery then pumping her full of hormones so she will never grow up seems horrific.

But they've done it. At the request of her parents, little Ashley X has undergone a full hysterectomy, had her tiny breast buds removed, and is being dosed daily with oestrogen to ensure she will never grow taller than her current 4ft 5ins or weigh more than her present 75lbs.

Read the rest of the story here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/1538646/Ashley-the-pillow-angel-love-or-madness.html

10 quick music questions

Stolen from http://bloggingcafechick.blogspot.com

1. What was the most recent album you bought? Is it any good?
I bought *ahem* The Cistercian Monks Of Stift Heilgenkreuz – Chant Music for Paradise after watching a Campbell Live (still in  with you John!) piece about their amazing journey to get a record deal and their album debuting at #7 on the British charts. Very uplifting and powerful music – even for this self confessed heretic

2. What is the last music bio that you read? And would you recommend it?
I love biographies, and read them voraciously … but it would appear not about musicians. In fact, the only muso biography I can see on my book shelf is “Something So Strong” by Chris Bourke about my beloved Crowded House…which I got in 1998!!!

3. You have one song to impress the crowd on Singstar. Assuming you can pick any relatively famous song to wow the audience, what would it be?
Ooooo I lov...

This one is just because I want to have all the latest 10 entries as mine :D

Also

Mum did not come to visit this weekend - she came down with the flu on Wednesday and was far too sick to drive 5 hours to see me :(I found this story http://tinyurl.co.uk/n4q1 and am in equal parts disturbed and intrigued. The prospect of having some very exciting news in the near future got a whole lot better on Friday. The coffee at the Hamilton gardens cafe is quite possibly the worst I have come across...but paradoxically their neenish tarts are really good!Paddy is doing really well on his medication now - back to his old self but minus the stress "need-to-pees" and spraying - hurrah!I really feel like a bottle of wine...but have none and no moolah to be a-purchasing.
